As-Built Drawing & Final Record Dossier — Brownfield Project
As-Built & DocumentationConfidential Details Removed
Problem / Requirement
Following the mechanical completion of a brownfield revamp at a petrochemical facility, the EPC contractor was required to close out a large backlog of redline mark-ups across piping, structural and equipment drawings, incorporate the changes into revised CAD files, and compile a Final Record Dossier (FRD) and Manufacturer's Data Report (MDR) package to satisfy the facility owner's handover requirements. The documentation scope covered over 120 drawing sheets across multiple disciplines, with a handover deadline tied to the plant's re-start authorisation.
Engineering Scope
Collection and organisation of all site redline mark-ups from construction teams across piping, structural and equipment disciplines
Systematic review of redlines against the IFC drawing revision to identify scope, clarity and conflict issues before CAD incorporation
CAD update of all affected drawing sheets — piping isometrics, P&IDs, structural steel GA drawings and equipment arrangement plans
Drawing revision control — issue of as-built revision with revision cloud, description of change and updated revision block
Compilation of Final Record Dossier (FRD): drawing register, calculation register, vendor data index and test records cross-reference
MDR preparation: assembly of mill certificates, weld maps, NDE records, PWHT records and hydrotest certificates per equipment line items
Document controller support — transmittal register, acknowledgement tracking and resolution of owner review comments
Final native CAD file and PDF deliverable package formatted per the owner's document management system requirements

Client Value Delivered
All 120+ drawing sheets updated and issued as-built within the handover deadline, enabling on-time plant re-start authorisation
Structured MDR package with cross-referenced mill certificates and NDE records satisfied the owner's integrity management requirements
Systematic redline review before CAD incorporation identified 14 conflicting mark-ups, preventing errors from being locked into the permanent record
Transmittal register with acknowledgement tracking provided auditable proof of all document handovers for the regulatory file
Standardised FRD index format aligned with the owner's document management system, eliminating post-handover filing effort
